Come Fly With Us!
We have a wide open, beautiful flying field at the Grasslands Regional Park, 4 miles south of I-80 on Mace Blvd in Davis California. We fly gliders, electric planes, electric helicopters and huge cross country ships. New to flying? Club instructors and mentors offer free training in a friendly and helpful atmosphere.

SVSS is a social organization whose purpose is to promote the enjoyment and proficiency of flying radio controlled gliders. Our club was founded in 1989 and has more than 100 members of all ages, abilities and from all walks of life with a common interest, building and flying radio controlled gliders. Membership is open to the general public. SVSS general membership meetings are held at the SVSS field. They follow the nine monthly club contest on alternate months beginning in March. If the club contest is postponed so is the meeting. Our meetings are open to the public and visitors are always welcome and encouraged to attend.
A monthly contest is held at the club field at 10:00 AM on the second Saturday of the month from March through November. A training day, dedicated to helping new pilots master the sky, is on the same day and immediately follows the club contest. Beginners and spectators are always welcome. The SVSS flying field is located at the Yolo County Grasslands Regional Park, which is 3.8 miles south of I-80 on Mace Blvd in Davis. The flying site is open every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. The club has five electric winches with 750 foot winch lines and retrievers. Due to Yolo County restrictions, modeling is restricted to sailplanes and electrics. No gas power planes are permitted. For membership information you may contact any of the club officers. A membership application can be downloaded from the web site and they are also available at the field.
